Folksy Friday!

I have not done one of these for a very long time..

For this week's theme i've picked pink. I've been buying accessories for my house recently and its surprising how i've been drawn to all things pink... although i've had to rein it in as my husband was less than pleased when I turned all our bathroom accessories pink in one fail swoop... pink bath mat, towels, tooth mug and hand wash bottle.. it was funny when he turned to me and said 'BUT it's all bright pink'.. all I could offer was 'you'll get used to it'.. and my husband is for sure a man's man.... rest assured he doesn't have to use the pink towels there are plenty of other options for him to choose from.....lol

Hello again!

I have been away for what feels like forever and I didn't even so anywhere sunny!

This is just a short post to say hello again, if there is anyone out there to say hello too?

I needed a break from crafting after a few big events in my life this year but i'm back now.. I filled up my folksy shop with some goodies on Sunday and I am open for business once more. I've got a few craft fairs planned for Christmas time that i'm quite looking forward to.

For the time being here is just a taster of the offerings in my shop.. i'll be back for folksy Friday this week x

Rest In Peace My Handsome x

In memory of Midnight

June 2005 - 26 July 2010

Midnight was diagnosed with progressive heart disease when he was just 2 years old.

On 26th July he went into heart failure and we had to make the terrible decision to let him go..

We had him since he was 10 weeks old and he was one of the most friendly cats I had ever have the pleasure to know, everyone loved him and he loved everyone.
Our neighbours used to tell us how he would go to visit them for a chat
no-one was immune to his charms!
He took his tablets every evening with no fuss..

We had our first cat Minstrel for about 2 weeks before we got Midnight, when we bought him home on that first day she hated him and I felt terrible at the prospect of them not getting on, but the following day she jumped on the bed next to give gave him a big lick and from then on they were inseperable.

After then we introduced two rescue cats, Millie in 2007 and Bumble in 2008, he befriended them like they were his family. Midnight was always so laid back and gentle.

I found him once laying with our pet rabbit, Hopscotch, in our living room.

He was never far away, loving human company.

Knowing he had a dodgy ticker Minstrel used to bring in mice for him to play with!

He was full of love and mischief, often stealing the leftovers of the sunday roast
whilst we sat eating in the other room..

Once when they were babies, I found him and Minstrel with their heads in the christmas trifle I had just made! They looked so funny I didn't have the heart to be angry..

His poorly heart meant he slept alot ..

He had a happy albeit short life and it was not possible for us to love him anymore than we did.

His pals Minstrel, Millie and Bumble are all missing him.

He gave the most amazing puss-cat kisses.. xxxx

They say memories are golden, well, maybe that is true.
I never wanted memories, I only wanted you.
In life I loved you dearly, in death I love you still.
In my heart you hold a place no one else could fill.
If tears could build a stairway and heartache make a lane.
I'd walk the path to Heaven and bring you back again.
Our family chain is broken, and nothing seems the same.
But as God calls us back one by one, the chain will link again.

Midnight

We miss you So much xxxxxxxxxx

Did you hear me Scream?

A few weekends ago I asked my niece if she wanted to come to Thorpe Park with my husband and I. It turned out in the end that my sister and brother in law came along with my younger nephew so there was a nice group of us. It was nice to go with my sister as we haven't done anything together for ages.

I've never been a big fan of rollercoasters or extreme rides but for some strange reason I thought the saw ride wouldn't be that bad.... Oh how wrong was I! I went on with my niece, husband and brother in law, we sat in a row together. The moment I got on I was panicking about how secure the harness thing was that comes down around you. I knew it was a bad idea and then it was too late to opt out and we had set off plunged into darkness and then the first drop came! OMG... all the while I just wanted to get off and thinking 'it hasn't gone up yet or down that big drop!'... holding on for sheer life we reached the bottom of the vertical climb. It held us there for ages which was like torture for me and my eye lids were hurting from being clamped shut so tight. I just kept telling myself 'it's going to be over in a minute - just hang on'.. When the ride finally stopped my niece and husband kept telling me to release my grip as the ride had ended.. when I opened my eyes I looked down and my legs were shaking.. That ride did me in for the rest of the day. My sister said when she heard the screams she knew they were mine.

All in all we had a lovely time and my husband, brother in law and niece did all the extreme rides in the park and loved it.

I, on the other hand, stayed with my sister and nephew and we had just as much fun on the banana boat, runaway train, flying fish and log flume!

When we went on the log flume, my nephew was behind me, the log flume has a few climbs and drops and during the climb for the highest one all I could hear behind me from my young nephew was 'I'm going to die, i'm going to die'... he was fine as his dad was there holding him and it wasn't that high but it was really funny.

My sister and I went on the teacups, we sent my neice off to join the cup with her dad and brother in it as we knew she would spin the teacups too much. My sister and I had made a pact that we wouldn't spin it. For a joke I started to spin it a tiny amount that you couldn't really tell it was turning.. she thought I had declared war on her and declaring that I 'started it' she frantically started to spin the teacup faster and faster as I rolled about laughing so hard I was crying trying to stop her.... What a sight we must have been a 36 and 46 year old having a tea cup battle while the little kids looked on. We are not role models and what we did wasn't clever! lol

It really was a great day out and I had some side splitting moments of laughter but that Saw ride has confirmed I am not an extreme kinda girl!
